Ahok Waits for PP to Be Issued Before Sending Vice Name

Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ Tjahaja Purnama cancels his intention to give the name of vice governor to President Joko Widodo today, Tuesday (25/11). The cancellation is because he follows the suggestion of Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo who recommended Ahok to wait first until the Governor Regulation is completed on Friday (11/28).

As known, based on Government Regulation in Lieu of Law No. 1/2014 on the Election of Governor, Regent, and Mayor, Ahok only has 15 days to decide his vice since he was inaugurated on Wednesday, November 19. But, he explained that those 15 days are work days, not calendar days. Thus, the dateline will be at Wednesday, December 10.

Although still has time, Ahok decided to send the name immediately because the PP is scheduled to be issued on Friday (11/28).
“If the Home Affairs Minister issued the PP on Friday, I will send the name of proposed vice governor to the president on upcoming Monday or Tuesday,” he stated.
According to Ahok, he already has one name to be proposed to the president. He chooses someone who is willing to work hard, especially because the tenure is only three years left.
